Megan Thee Stallion is opening up about her breakup with NBA player Klay Thompson, describing the end of their relationship as abrupt and saying she is still processing what happened months after their split. The rapper discussed the relationship and its aftermath in a new Marie Claire cover story published Sept. 29.

Megan said she is not pretending to be completely okay and explained that she had never experienced a relationship like the one she shared with Thompson. The couple, who went public with their relationship in 2025, ended things in April 2026 after roughly a year together.

Describing the breakup, Megan said it was “so abrupt” and that she remained in shock. She also said she had been constantly on edge during the relationship and described feeling as though she was “in a panic 24/7.” She said she is still working through the emotions surrounding the split and has not been trying to rush the process.

Megan previously addressed the breakup publicly on Instagram, where she accused Thompson of cheating and described his behavior during their relationship in negative terms. Thompson has not publicly addressed all of the allegations in detail.

In the Marie Claire interview, Megan said the experience has caused her to pay closer attention to her instincts. She recalled times when she felt something was wrong but continued giving the relationship the benefit of the doubt. She said she now wants to trust what she feels rather than dismissing those instincts.

Megan also made clear that she is not currently looking for another relationship. When asked about romance, she said she was not thinking about anything romantic and was not interested in entering another relationship anytime soon.

The breakup came during a demanding period in Megan’s career. Earlier this year, she made her Broadway debut as Zidler in Moulin Rouge! The Musical. She began the role in March and later left the production in May after an early departure from the scheduled run. She subsequently reprised the role during the 2026 Tony Awards.

Megan has also been working on Act III, the next installment in her Megan album series. She told Marie Claire that she spent much of the summer recording and rewriting material rather than rushing to release the project.

On Sept. 29, alongside the new interview, Megan released “Tina Tuesday Freestyle” with an accompanying music video. Billboard reported that the release arrives as she continues teasing Act III and developing new music following her recent career activities.

The latest comments give an update on Megan’s life following the April breakup, while her focus remains on processing the experience and continuing work on her next musical project.
