Foo Fighters Set for One-Off Tasmania Return With Launceston Stadium Gig

Foo Fighters have taken the stage in Launceston tonight at a sold-out UTAS Stadium show, marking a historic one-off performance that represents their first concert in Tasmania since 2015 and the band’s first ever stadium appearance in the northern Tasmanian city. The event, dubbed part of the band’s “Take Cover” 2026 tour, drew tens of thousands of fans from across Australia for what promoters are calling one of the state’s biggest live-music moments.

Ahead of the concert on January 24, the Foo Fighters and Frontier Touring shared detailed event guidance for ticket holders, advising attendees on digital-only ticketing, entry times, bag restrictions, merchandise availability and transport arrangements as Invermay Road closures and logistics plans were enacted to manage crowd flows around UTAS Stadium.
The band’s arrival in Launceston earlier today was captured as they touched down at Launceston Airport just hours before showtime, underlining local excitement and anticipation.
Tonight’s performance also included memorable moments beyond the setlist, such as Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl reuniting onstage with Brant Webb, a survivor of the 2006 Beaconsfield mine disaster whose story and connection to the band’s music drew significant emotional response from the crowd during the encore.
UTAS Stadium was filled to capacity under clear summer skies, with families and long-time fans praising the atmosphere, widespread attendance and the influx of visitors benefiting local businesses. Accommodation in Launceston reached high demand in the lead-up to the show, while merchandise booths and exclusive concert T-shirts were highlights for attendees.
Foo Fighters’ Launceston performance is currently scheduled as their only Australian show in 2026, following a rapid sell-out after tickets went on sale last December and marking their 14th visit to Australia overall.
