After Watching ‘Sean Combs: The Reckoning,’ Joe Budden Says Diddy ‘Didn’t Get Enough Time’ in Prison

Joe Budden reacted strongly after watching the Netflix docuseries Sean Combs: The Reckoning, saying he believes Sean “Diddy” Combs “didn’t get enough time” in prison. Budden shared his views on the December 11 episode of The Joe Budden Podcast, discussing how the documentary — executive produced by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson — shaped his opinion on Combs’ criminal history and legal consequences. Budden said that by the second episode he was “absolutely pissed” at Combs based on how the series framed Combs’ alleged involvement in the East Coast–West Coast hip-hop rivalry and other controversies. He noted that the series presents a timeline and evidence that influenced his belief that the prison sentence was too light.

Combs is currently serving a federal prison sentence after being convicted on two counts of transporting individuals for prostitution, and was sentenced in October 2025 to 50 months (about four years and two months) in prison, with credit for time already served. Prosecutors had sought a significantly longer sentence, and Combs was acquitted of racketeering and sex trafficking charges, which would have carried much harsher penalties.
A spokesperson for Combs responded to the commentary in the media by saying Combs is aware of ongoing public discussion around media projects like the Netflix series but will not engage with speculative or entertainment-driven commentary, and is focused on his family and future.
Budden’s remarks added to a broader public debate that has surrounded the docuseries since its release, including reactions from Combs’ supporters and family members who have criticized the documentary’s portrayal of events.
