NBA YoungBoy Faces Allegations of Violating Pre-Trial Release Conditions, Affirms He Won’t Halt Drug Use

NBA YoungBoy finds himself potentially facing jail time again, with accusations surfacing that he violated his pretrial release conditions by allegedly consuming drugs.

Court documents obtained by XXL reveal that Ronald C. Gathe, Jr., United States Attorney for the Middle District of Louisiana, filed a court motion on Thursday, asserting that YoungBoy breached his pretrial release conditions linked to his 2021 Louisiana firearms case. As of the time of this report, a judge has yet to make a ruling on the matter.

“The undersigned has learned that the defendant has violated Condition Number (10) and has informed his supervising officer that he has no intentions to discontinue using the substance that resulted in the violation,” states the court filing. “The United States respectfully requests that this Court set a hearing to address the violation with the defendant and to determine the appropriate remedial action.”

Reports of YoungBoy’s purported violation emerged following his posting of a troubling photo on social media. In the image, he is seen lying on the floor beside a double styrofoam cup with pills spilling out of a prescription bottle. Accompanying the picture was the caption: “& that’s why I don’t pick up the phone when it rings.” The rapper is presently awaiting trial in connection with his firearms case.

Back in 2023, NBA YoungBoy’s attorney, James P. Manasseh, highlighted in legal documents that his client’s mental well-being had been rapidly deteriorating due to strict house arrest conditions.

“Being confined to his home and unable to complete his employment obligations has led to great anxiety, depression, loss of weight and sleep,” Manasseh stated in the documents. “YoungBoy has been visibly stressed and has expressed concern and loss of hope that he will be able to return to his contracted employment obligation.”
